What's an Anomalos?...

After some tweaking I have managed to tidy up the ratio issues for the music video I did for the now defunct Auckland band Anomalos.

Original Version:

The video was shot as a tie in to my end of year film and the track was used for the end credits. The Band has long since split but I was informed that this video aired on Alt TV, C4 and Juice TV.

Operation Radio Free... Baghdad?

Music Video assignment for film school.

The video was filmed on a modest budget over two days. The band gave me creative control, I assume because they didn't put much stock in what the outcome would look like. I loosely explained the video concept to Guitarist Andrew Ashton on a cellphone while standing on a street trying to shield the phone microphone from the wind... It's a wonder he even considered talking to the rest of the band before agreeing. The edit was a solid 2 weeks on three crappy G4's with the combined rendering power of a Commodore 64... It was handed in on time (just) and the final mark was in the 90% range (can't remember off the top of my head).

The Larry Norman's self titled debut album is still available at all good record stores! I believe the band are still currently on an indefinite hiatus (but I could be wrong - They may have called it a day).

This video was televised on Alt TV, Juice TV and someone told me they saw it on C4 (I have no idea how they got it though and neither do the band).

One day when I get the time I would love to make some minor tweaks and changes to this video, and would love to finally upload an HD version.... Stay Tuned it may still happen.

It's all so commercial now...

This was an assignment for a 30 second television commercial.

It was a basic concept and I put very little effort in as I had a larger more in depth assignment due on the same day.

I took a very simple idea and formulated a concept which I then stretched out to the full 30 seconds thinking the more simplistic the concept the easier the message would convey. It's an old joke, and not a very original one but it worked pretty well and for a 2 hour Sunday afternoon shoot in a public park, 8 cans of L&P and a bottle of coke, an Ice cream bribed child to hold a reflector and a day of compiling sound bites, images and editing. In fact on the film school channel this advert currently has the highest views count...

SAE film school channel - Currently a little over 20,000 views

Lunch at the Park

First filming exercise at SAE was to script then film a brief encounter between two characters in groups.

The course was initially slow and I found the time to edit the footage together... It has never seen the light of day until now.

The groups were never given the opportunity to edit the footage and the assignment was quickly dropped as an "assignment", and dubbed an "exercise"...
Due to some of those involved not quite understanding the concept of continuity the footage is heavy on effects and light on story. It was also a unique opportunity to create and use effects I wouldn't ordinarily think of using.

I can't take all the credit for this as it was a joint effort, all those involved have been credited at the end.
