Headless Chickens came to the attention of New Zealand when they won a battle of the bands style competition in the late 80's. The prize money they won went towards recording their debut album Stunt Clown. With the later addition of female vocalist Fiona MacDonald, their follow up album Body Blow suddenly made them accessible and gain further notoriety by a wider audience and subsequently local success. Their third album Greedy saw several members leave, including MacDonald, but the song writing of Chris Matthews found a darker and often impressive tone. After the release of Greedy they disbanded.
